Last Saturday was the first event of the July consultation period for the Ledbury Neighbourhood Development Plan, and thanks to a lot of luck and wishful thinking for good weather it also turned out to be a great community day at the Recreation Ground.
It was a great opportunity to speak to the community, answer questions and let you know what is still yet to come. It is important for the people of Ledbury to get involved as this is your town and we rely on all contributions, which are graciously appreciated and help maintain us as a town ‘in bloom’.
With regard to contributions, we couldn’t have made it such as relaxed and as fun day without the kind donations of refreshments, food and cakes from Tesco, Market House Café, The Retreat, Nice Things and the kind contributions from all local people. All donations were in support of the Mayor’s Charities; The Madison Shelbie Trust and Kawasaki UK Support Group. We are pleased so say that around £167 was raised for these charities – Thank you for all your kind support.
Also thank you to the volunteers who helped to set up and arrange the stands, bake the cakes, sort a bouncy castle and helping to answer your questions. It is due to everyone’s time and contribution that the event cost nothing, meaning everything donated went to the charities.
We hope this first day of consulting on the draft policies and call for sites was informative, interesting and most importantly responsive to your thoughts as we move forward with the NDP Plan. We are still gathering more information and drafting new (and re-drafting old) policies so we welcome you to continue to get involved throughout the other upcoming consultation events in July.
As we approach the main consultation period in July to review the draft policies and results of the call for sites, Ledbury Community Day was the perfect opportunity to keep you up to date on what has happened so far for the Neighbourhood Development Plan.
Despite the unpredictable June weather, there was a great turnout for the Community Day and positive spirits all around. Ledbury Town Council opened their doors to anyone interested in reviewing the work and results of the NDP so far, and how they can look ahead towards the next consultation period in July. It can never hurt to have a little refresh and clarification on what is happening in our town, and we want to make sure that if you didn't have the chance to get involved until this stage, that you are aware of what is yet to come. Plus we have also been approached with new questions and thoughts which can be reviewed going forward.
The July Consultation is approaching fast so don't forget to come along share your views and chat with volunteers who have been working on the plan. Check out the events page or Facebook for more.
Just a brief recap on the continuing progress of the Neighbourhood plan following the consultation period throughout April. We had a great turn out and response from each event including the public consultation held in St Katherine's Hall, the business breakfast and from members of the public who kindly completed the questionnaires towards improving the current draft plan.
Thank you to everyone who help in the set up, attendance and positive response from the following events from the consultation;
Community Event 1st/2nd April Friday evening/Saturday day
Business Breakfast 8th April
Business Breakfast 21st April
U3A Folders taken to group 21st April
Local Traders 25th April
Leadon Bank Ambassadors 28th April
Youth Drop In 27th April
Food Bank Ambassador 27th April
We are currently working through the returned questionnaires and amending the draft to reflect the responses to ensure it meets your thoughts and opinions as much as possible.
However there is still more time to have your say as the next round of consultation approaches in July 2016. Details are being ironed out as we speak but keep an eye on this website and via the Ledbury Town Council Facebook page for latest updates.
